Following Madden’s lead, EA turned to its first person shooter powerhouse Battlefield 1 next, revealing a very short teaser trailer for its next upcoming expansion, In The Name of the Tsar. The trailer featured a quick look at some of the action in the biggest expansion yet, complete with some narration by a soldier from the Russian Woman’s Battalion of Death.
The trailer highlighted the snowy landscapes and open fields from the eastern front of World War 1 along with some of the new vehicles such as bomber planes and new Russian inspired classes. Gameplay centered around tense infantry combat, a stylish new melee takedown where a player on horseback uses a spear to essentially stab and lance an enemy at full gallop. The teaser ends with a melee knife takedown from that soldier providing the narration.
Unfortunately, a release date wasn’t given, though players do know that eight maps will be included, as well as two new night maps coming sometime this summer. Later in the presentation, the first live gameplay will be taking place, giving fans around the world their first real look at the upcoming expansion.
