DICE and EA have updated the Battlefield 2042 community with what they can expect from the game towards the end of 2021 and throughout 2022. Among the things included with the updates coming to Battlefield 2042 in 2022 are the game’s first live season, new weapons, gadgets, vehicles, and more. The notably absent scoreboard in Battlefield 2042 can also be expected in a future update as EA has stated that the team is working to bring the feature to the new Battlefield.

Battlefield 2042 recently received its third update, a big one that fixed several major problems pointed out by the community. Included with the fixes in Battlefield 2042’s third update is the addition of Rush mode which players can select on all of the new maps rather than being stuck in Battlefield Portal. Another patch is expected for later December as Battlefield 2042 prepares for a new map and specialists in 2022.
While Battlefield 2042 will see more than just one season, the first season of content may give fans an idea of what to expect from future seasons as well. A new game mode is coming with the first season alongside the addition of 64-player Conquest to Battlefield 2042 for a limited time. The addition of 64-player Conquest may give long-time Battlefield fans a classic feel on Battlefield 2042 maps such as Discarded, Hourglass, or Orbital. In addition to 64-player Conquest, Battlefield 2042 fans will also be able to play Breakthrough with the reduced player count as well.
Although the reduced player count will be a new addition to Battlefield 2042 on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S, players on PS4 and Xbox One are already used to the reduced player count. If this 64-player limited-time mode sees an influx of Battlefield 2042 fans, the mode may be added more permanently like 50 vs 50 Team Rumble battles in Fortnite. It’s currently unclear if Battlefield 2042’s live service model will introduce new game modes alongside the expected new weapons, gadgets, and Specialists in each new season.
The new map coming with Battlefield 2042 Season One is called Exposure, but DICE and EA have yet to reveal what it will look like or its layout. According to GameSpot, Exposure will take map design to a new level which suggests it will be more spectacular than the current map lineup. EA and DICE have yet to give any details regarding the new Specialist being added to Battlefield 2042 in Season One, but it will likely add a new dynamic to the existing character lineup of Battlefield 2042 including the non-binary Sundance and veteran Medic Maria Falck.
Battlefield 2042 is available right now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
