The teaser was sent directly to YouTuber JackFrags, with the content creator surprised by the message being sent at all. Given other ARGs, it seems likely that other streamers and YouTubers will get messages like this, as this will likely be an ARG that leads up to the Battlefield 6 reveal on June 9. How many messages there will be remains to be seen, though if one comes every day before the event, four more transmissions can be expected. If they are anything like this one, they could provide lots of insight into the game.

In JackFrags’ message, a broadcast is sent from the United States Navy. The message is “quantum encrypted,” suggesting a modern or near future setting for the game. With this being the rumor, along with a World War 3 narrative, this would make sense. The message itself sees the United States military talking to those that want to return home, adding that “war is the only way home.” The message sender also states that “if you can fire a gun, we need you,” adding to a rumor about the game.

According to the reputable insider Tom Henderson, DICE will be doing away with faction-based multiplayer in the sequel. Instead, the United States and Russia will apparently be hiring anyone that will fight for them, leading to both sides being packed with soldiers from around the world. Based on the messaging, it seems like America may have been overrun, with the country overtaken by the invading Russian forces. Likely taking refuge in Canada, the United Kingdom, or another allied country, America is seemingly planning a fight to take back the United States.

While this is purely speculation, it makes for an interesting premise, as it would allow for maps to be set around United States landmarks that are being occupied by invaders. Another interesting thing to point out is the “3600 hours” time stamp on the transmission. Going off of normal military time, 3600 does not exist. It does add up to 150 days though, something fans are speculating could be added onto today’s date for a potential release date. This would be November 1, and while a Monday is an odd day to launch a game, it would line up with the holiday release window that has been confirmed for the game.

With the year of the transmission obscured by a series of X’s, gamers will need to wait until the reveal for confirmation of Battlefield 6’s setting. Given the recent teasers for the game, though, it is seeming more likely that the near future rumors are going to prove accurate.

Battlefield 6 is in development for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
