For a vastly less child-friendly take on the Batman universe, Gotham City Impostors is also on the way, though the game has suffered a slight setback. Batman: Arkham City is having a great run during the post holiday awards season. The Caped Crusader’s latest adventure won both Best Action/Adventure Game and Best Story in Game Rant’s 2011 Video Game Awards, and is a clear favorite among players. Though fans of Rocksteady’s dark take on the material might seem unlikely to embrace a lighthearted vision of Batman, the sales history of the LEGO games tells a different story....

In one cutscene, players run ahead as Batman for a moment before their screens glitch considerably, with the intent to make players believe that their game is crashing. Batman, and consequently the player, are then transported into an altered reality depicting a new perspective of Batman: Arkham Asylum’s opening introduction, where the Joker is instead taking Batman to the asylum. One fan has since noticed a detail that further immerses the player into this fear toxin sequence....

Batman: Arkham Knight has certainly had a rocky start to life in the video game world. One piece of new information that has trickled out about the battle royale mode may surprise fans. Researchers at the National University of Ireland in Galway studying the noble false widow spider found it preying on a protected pipistrelle bat in behavior never recorded before. Their findings were published in the journal Ecosphere under the title “Webslinger versus Dark Knight” in a nod to comic book heroes Spider-Man and Batman. Noble false widows are on the European Union’s list of invasive species. They are thought to have arrived on the continent on ships from their native islands of Madeira and the Canaries in the North Atlantic Ocean....

In addition to all of the add-ons available through online gaming marketplaces, Batman: Arkham Knight also had tons of timed retailer exclusives – for instance, the Batman Beyond gear pre-order bonus – but as previously reported, the game developers assured fans that all of the content would eventually be obtainable for each platform via the Season Pass. Now, Warner Bros. Interactive has begun to unveil some of the downloadable elements for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One Season Pass holders by revealing the upcoming content for August with two new bundles that include throwback skins, with one inspired by Tim Burton’s first Batman adaptation....

The clip features many of the secondary characters that make up the game’s cast. The Dark Knight has a bunch of friends that help him keep Gotham safe, and we see a few of them interspersed throughout the footage, with Amanda Waller and the Green Arrow standing out in particular. The minister of war authorized the initiative, and the Women’s Battalion of Death would go on to become infamous for its willingness to go over the top to push back opposing forces.
